Travel Journal: Sydney Australia/ Bondi Beach

 12/2/2024

We got into our last city on our Australian adventure today yesterday- Sydney !

Not going to lie the airport while nice was definitely way crazier and getting to our hotel in an uber was chaotic thanks to that big city traffic. Already though it is easy to see why Sydney is a MUST for any first time Australia visit. Its skyline is iconic and so are its beaches and overall vibes.

Today we caught some awesome waves and summer time Christmas vibes at the world famous Bondi Beach. It’s an easy train ride right from Sydney Harbor, but definitely be ready for some very crowded trains/buses. This beach is world famous and gets lots of visitors every day!

This iconic Bondi beachside neighborhood in Sydney’s east has lots to offer from its perfect waves for surfers and tons of shopping and restaurants. You can even follow the Bondi to Coogee Walk that connects all the Eastern Suburbs beaches 🏖️

It’s also home to the Bondi Iceberg Swim Club- the only licensed swim club in the world that features the famous lap pools right next to the crashing ocean waves and a world class restaurant - this place has a super interesting history and the views of it are great at any angle.

Did you know Sydney is where surfing began in Australia?

In 1915 Hawaiian Duke Kahanamoku demonstrated this ancient Hawaiian board riding technique at Freshwater (or Harbord) in Sydney, New South Wales. Kahanamoku's board is still on display at the Freshwater Surf lifesaving club. If you find yourself in Sydney - a visit is never complete without a day at this icon of a beach.
