Travel Journal: Auckland, NZ Day 1

Travel Journal, 11/18/2024

Exploration day in Auckland and oh how we love this vibrant city! Auckland is easy to get around between it’s easy to use public transportation and general walkability.

It’s always so surreal to actually be in a place that you have dreamed of and talked about for so long.

Way back in 2020 we took a trip to Ruidoso in our home state of New Mexico to escape from the covid craziness for a bit. While sitting outside at a brewery we took cover under some tents from rain and ended up talking with some awesome people that were visiting from New Zealand. We all swapped travel stories and we told them how Australia and New Zealand were some of our top dream destinations, and they gave us some great tips we are using on this very trip.

That’s one of the most amazing parts of travel, you meet so many people and get to hear and learn new perspectives and ideas.

Yesterday we experienced the Sky Tower, and Today we walked the “Coast to Coast” walk that takes you all the way across northern New Zealand and has stops through some of Aucklands most beautiful parks, nature and must see spots. The weather is a perfect 70 degrees and this city is so beautiful and walkable. Just make sure you are prepared though for LOTS of uphill walking. You definitely will get a nice leg day in while exploring 🏙️

From gorgeous parks and water views to the huge New Zealand Museum we took in so much New Zealand art, history and culture today ♥️
