Travel Journal: THE Australia Zoo !
11/22/2024
We spent the last couple of days exploring all over the electrifying city that is Brisbane. Just like in New Zealand the locals in Australia have been nothing but kind and welcoming. The visitor center in the Queenstreet Mall (we are staying down the street from) has been super helpful in planning and getting our bearings. Brisbane is huge and full of unique skyscrapers, food options from around the world and phenomenal shopping. Did I mention Aussie coffee is AMAZING? It is a literal art form here!
Anyhow, on to todays bucket list adventure- a millennial kids dream come true - THE Australia Zoo !
If you are anything like us, you also grew up watching and loving 🐊The Crocodile Hunter🐊Steve Irwin and following the amazing conservation work he started with The Australia Zoo that his family continues today. Steve Irwin’s legacy of wild life conservation absolutely lives on and The Austrailia Zoo/ Wild Life Hospital saves thousands of animals every year, on top of countless research projects they work on to continue protecting wildlife all over the world.
To see this zoo we have watched on tv all of our lives in person is absolutely surreal, even more so because we happened to luck out and see the entire Irwin/ Powell family do the croc feedings today. We were definitely starstuck and nostalgic seeing all of Steve Irwin’s stuff that’s on display and watching his family do the croc feedings he started.
Want to visit the zoo?
You need at least a full day to explore all this place has to offer- from feeding the sweet kangaroos, watching the wildlife shows in the world famous crocoseum, and cuddling the Koalas it’s a jam packed day of Australian wildlife.
If you have kiddos there is great play areas and water fun to cool off as well. There’s phenomenal food offerings, fantastic shopping and there is even The Crocodile Hunter Lodge now, where you can stay on zoo property in a luxury resort.
There’s lots of great zoos that also do fantastic work in conservation all of Australia but this zoo is absolutely special and a must in the Land Down Under 🇦🇺
Getting here there are many options depending on where you are staying. If you are staying in Brisbane like us- it’s a quick train ride into Beerwah and the zoo offers a complimentary shuttle from the train station.
You can visit their website to learn all about their conservation efforts and even adopt an animal at the zoo.
Thank you for such an amazing adventure packed day and for all you do for wildlife Australia Zoo and The Wildlife Warriors !
And thank you Steve Irwin ♥️🐊
