Travel Journal: Cairns, Australia Day 1

 11/26/2024

Today we arrived in our next Aussie city via an easy 1.5 hour flight from Brisbane- Cairns.

Jet star is one of the main airline for within Australia flights and they were great ! Jet Star offers very affordable flights within Australia and also boast in our opinion some of the best in flight snack options. They are very particular about luggage weight so make sure you do read up on limits before you fly, it’s been a great way to keep us from going to crazy with shopping !

Cairns is cute and small and a great area to be much more surrounded by Australia’s beautiful nature. Cairns is the “Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef” and also home to the rainforest village and famous Kurunda Rail/Skyway, and the Daintree Rainforest. At round 180 million years old this is the oldest rainforest on planet Earth 🌏

This part of Australia is some of the most remote and un-touched nature in this part of the world. There’s great little shops and restaurants including the Hemingway Brewery where we enjoyed lunch with views of the water surrounding Cairns. Within the city is the Esplanade- it features a salt water lagoon free to the public to cool off as well as playgrounds and more shopping and food. The views anywhere here are spectacular 🏝️🐠

Tomorrow we are off to explore the rainforest …. πŸ¦œπŸ πŸŒ€πŸ₯
