Travel Journal: Washington Day 3, Adventures in Seattle and Everett

Today we were sleepless in Seattle - mostly because we were super caffeinated on all the amazing coffee 😁

Seattle is a vibrant city surrounded by mountains and water offering a unique spread of attractions. Seattle has a large music and arts scene and played a big part in the rise of grunge music (we all know Nirvana right?). This city is also the birthplace of Starbucks and has a thriving coffee culture (like all of Washington).

Don't miss some of our favorite iconic attractions like the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, and the Chihuly Garden and Glass. We had a great time exploring all of these today !

 Pike Place is a foodies dream with phenomenal cuisine to choose from at every turn, and has the famous fish market where you can watch them throwing fish and yelling out seafood orders 🐠 It also boats some great shopping and is where the original Starbucks is located. We actually really enjoyed visiting that but do keep in mind everyone else does too so get there early to avoid super long lines ! The most unique part of this location aside from being the OG is that they have their own blends you can only get there. Definitely unique ☕️

Some of our favorite foods today were Beechers Handmade Cheese (you can watch them making it- the salmon Mac n cheese was so good!), and Piroshky Piroshky where we had some of their famous stuffed pastries. Another highlight was the Ghost Alley Espresso- located in the famous Gum Wall area. It’s a tiny little walk up window and we ordered the surprise Mocha - it was fun to not know what we’d get and boy did it come out delicious 😋 


From there we made our way to Seattles most well known icon - The Space Needle. Built in 1962 for The Worlds Fair this is a must for any Seattle visit. The views are amazing and the 2nd level even has a turning glass floor so you can look directly below you as it’s moving - just beware if you are not a fan of heights ! We opted for a combo ticket so we also enjoyed the stunning Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum - a permanent exhibition showcasing the exceptional glass art of Dale Chihuly. The museum has eight galleries a Glasshouse and a lush garden filled with glass installations. 

You also can add other attractions like the Museum of Pop Culture if you so choose too!


Once we finished we made a short trek to the cute town of Everett and shopped the super unique Funko World Headquarters. This place is like a mini pop culture museum and they have so many fun sets to look at while you shop. Everett also had a beautiful beach -Mukilteo with a historic lighthouse to cap off a full day. If you are hungry they also have some great restaurants- our favorite was Scuttlebutt Family Pub - a super tasty brewery on the waterfront !

Seattle is unique and eclectic and definitely worth a visit 👌 Tomorrow we have a full day again as we take on Olympic National Park 🏞️

 06/20/2025 We enjoyed a nice chill last day in a rainy Tacoma- taking in sites, enjoying time with family and shopping🌧️ This city has been a great base for us to stay to easily get to all the adventures we wanted to. Tacoma is situated between Seattle and both national parks and offers its own mix of attractions such as museums, waterfront dining, and parks. Our favorite has definitely been Point Defiance Park and Owens Beach to take in sunsets and watch wildlife 🦭 We also found some unique breweries and some delicious donuts along with cute little shops in old town. Only 30 minutes from Tacoma we shopped The Outlet Collection Seattle this week too, and stocked up on super discounted outdoor gear from some of our favorites like Columbia and Eddie Bauer !  This trip was such a wonderful reset for us and we are ready to get back to it. Travel Journal: Washington Day 5, More Seattle and Kayaking the Puget Sound !

 06/19/2024 We spent a lovely morning today exploring the Alki Beach area of Seattle before we did a fantastic kayak adventure in the Puget Sound 🐋🦭 Lincoln Park was some beautiful walking and led us to one of a few troll statue art installations (spread throughout the PNW) made completely out of recycled materials. Alki Beach has a nice laid back vibe and lots of shopping and dining 🦀 Washington’s Puget Sound, is a huge estuary connected to the Pacific Ocean -known for its rich biodiversity and stunning views of the surrounding nature and diverse wildlife. Puget is home to various fish, seabirds, and marine mammals, including the orca whale.  We have come to love doing kayak tours in many destinations we visit, and find it’s a fantastic way to get right into the local nature and see some wildlife! Travel Journal: New Orleans- The Big Easy & Biloxi, Mississippi

 November of 2020  I have had a lifelong obsession with seeing New Orleans. I even had a mardi-gras theme room for a while as a kid- I guess seeing it in travel books I just fell in love with the architecture and always wanted to try the food !  Finally in 2020 we made it happen and spent a good almost 2 weeks in the “Big Easy”.  We all know 2020 was a crazy year to say the least… We had originally planned to go to New Orleans in May of 2020 and well, things obviously had to be cancelled. By November we had an offer from Expedia to re-schedule since Covid numbers were lower in Louisiana and after much thought and arranging plans we decided to go for it. We followed all safety measures and of course quarantined and had to be tested as soon as we got home. It was a very strange time to travel, that is for sure..
