Travel Journal: Washington State- adventures in the PNW Day 1
06/15/2025
Day 1 in beautiful Washington 🥾🌲 It is gorgeously green and we have already seen so much of the phenomenal nature this state has to offer. We started our day at The Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium- the only combined zoo/aquarium in the Pacific Northwest, nestled inside the 700-acre Point Defiance Park with views of Mount Rainier and Puget Sound. This zoo was so nicely laid out and has lots of play areas for families. The nature surrounding you made for such a nice visit and they have some great conservation projects like saving the red wolf 🐺
Point Defiance Park itself is somewhere we will be spending a lot more time this trip - it’s huge and has so much to explore ! We took in a gorgeous sun set last night and watched some seals swimming around 🦭
The highlight today though was spending wonderful time with my cousin and her sweet little family. We explored the sand bar at low tide in the Penrose Point State Park. It was so fascinating to see all the crabs, starfish, sand dollars and more and find lots of seashell treasures to add to my collection 🐚🦪🦀 This state park is super pretty and a also offers great conditions for lots of water activities like kayaking. We then enjoyed the breathtaking views while walking the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and boy there are views all around. The unique nature and dense forests with deep green all around you, and Mountain View’s for days are definitely our favorite part here !
Tomorrow is on to much more adventure in the great outdoors 🌲🥾#optoutside #visitthepnw #visitwashingtonstate #tacoma #travelblogger
