Travel Journal: Washington Day 6, Tacoma, nature and family time !

06/20/2025 We enjoyed a nice chill last day in a rainy Tacoma- taking in sites, enjoying time with family and shopping🌧️ This city has been a great base for us to stay to easily get to all the adventures we wanted to. Tacoma is situated between Seattle and both national parks and offers its own mix of attractions such as museums, waterfront dining, and parks. Our favorite has definitely been Point Defiance Park and Owens Beach to take in sunsets and watch wildlife 🦭 We also found some unique breweries and some delicious donuts along with cute little shops in old town. Only 30 minutes from Tacoma we shopped The Outlet Collection Seattle this week too, and stocked up on super discounted outdoor gear from some of our favorites like Columbia and Eddie Bauer !  This trip was such a wonderful reset for us and we are ready to get back to it. We don’t know what travel the rest of this year holds with job opportunities pending - but we know we’ll find some adventure somewhere ✈️ Tha...

Travel Journal: Washington Day 5, More Seattle and Kayaking the Puget Sound !

06/19/2024 We spent a lovely morning today exploring the Alki Beach area of Seattle before we did a fantastic kayak adventure in the Puget Sound πŸ‹πŸ¦ Lincoln Park was some beautiful walking and led us to one of a few troll statue art installations (spread throughout the PNW) made completely out of recycled materials. Alki Beach has a nice laid back vibe and lots of shopping and dining πŸ¦€ Washington’s Puget Sound, is a huge estuary connected to the Pacific Ocean -known for its rich biodiversity and stunning views of the surrounding nature and diverse wildlife. Puget is home to various fish, seabirds, and marine mammals, including the orca whale.  We have come to love doing kayak tours in many destinations we visit, and find it’s a fantastic way to get right into the local nature and see some wildlife! We booked with Ballard Kayak and Paddle-Board and we were so happy we did. From our fantastic guide to the amazing sights it was such a great way to really get into Washington’s ...

Travel Journal: Washington Day 4,

06/18/2025 Collect UNESCO World Heritage Sites - not things πŸ’… Today was my favorite kind of travel day. We packed adventure in from sunrise to sunset and ended the day exhausted and full of new memories 🏞️  We spent all day exploring the massive treasure that is Olympic National Park, and I have to say that of all national parks I’ve seen thus far - Olympic is my favorite. We hiked through moss covered rainforests, explored a gorgeous lake, gazed upon stunning waterfalls, soaked in hot springs surrounded by mountains, and walked the rugged coastline while whales were surfacing nearby.  Olympic is well known for its diversity of ecosystems, including glacier-capped mountains, rainforests, and a rugged Pacific coastline. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and International Biosphere Reserve, it offers visitors a great variety of outdoor activities from hiking and camping to lots of opportunities to view wildlife. Olympic even has some of its own endemic species that are only f...

Travel Journal: Washington Day 3, Adventures in Seattle and Everett

06/17/2025 Today we were sleepless in Seattle - mostly because we were super caffeinated on all the amazing coffee 😁 Seattle is a vibrant city surrounded by mountains and water offering a unique spread of attractions. Seattle has a large music and arts scene and played a big part in the rise of grunge music (we all know Nirvana right?). This city is also the birthplace of Starbucks and has a thriving coffee culture (like all of Washington). Don't miss some of our favorite iconic attractions like the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, and the Chihuly Garden and Glass. We had a great time exploring all of these today !  Pike Place is a foodies dream with phenomenal cuisine to choose from at every turn, and has the famous fish market where you can watch them throwing fish and yelling out seafood orders 🐠 It also boats some great shopping and is where the original Starbucks is located. We actually really enjoyed visiting that but do keep in mind everyone else does too so get ther...

Travel Journal: Washington, Day 2 Mount Rainier National Park

06/16/2024 Today was all about epic views and hiking πŸ₯Ύ  We took on Rainier National Park and it lived up to its reputation! One of Washington’s most popular places to visit- Mount Rainier is the tallest peak in the Cascade Range at 14,410 feet and stands as a landmark in the Seattle-Tacoma area. It also has the largest glacial system in the continental United States, with numerous glaciers laying in its slopes. Fascinatingly, it’s also an active volcano! Though Rainier has not erupted for a very long time it is a possibility it could happen again…  Rainier is a premiere hiking destination with 260 miles of trails, as well as advanced mountain climbing and endless scenic drives. There are breathtaking views from every angle of this park and we found the Paradise area to be our favorite, for its exceptional views, hikes and visitor centers. If you have 1 day to see this park this area is a great way to go ! Rainier has some very diverse eco systems, so definitely always c...

Travel Journal: Washington State- adventures in the PNW Day 1

06/15/2025 Day 1 in beautiful Washington πŸ₯ΎπŸŒ² It is gorgeously green and we have already seen so much of the phenomenal nature this state has to offer. We started our day at The Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium- the only combined zoo/aquarium in the Pacific Northwest, nestled inside the 700-acre Point Defiance Park with views of Mount Rainier and Puget Sound. This zoo was so nicely laid out and has lots of play areas for families. The nature surrounding you made for such a nice visit and they have some great conservation projects like saving the red wolf 🐺  Point Defiance Park itself is somewhere we will be spending a lot more time this trip - it’s huge and has so much to explore ! We took in a gorgeous sun set last night and watched some seals swimming around 🦭  The highlight today though was spending wonderful time with my cousin and her sweet little family. We explored the sand bar at low tide in the Penrose Point State Park. It was so fascinating to see all the crab...

Health and Wellness Products: Coffee, Protein Bars and Premium Hydration!

If you are always on the go (or get hangry…) like me- it can be super hard to focus on healthy habits and find good snacks. Traveling especially can make staying healthy hard when you are in and out of airports and jet lagged- and lets be honest, airport food can be expensive and not always good for you.. I like to find products with high quality healthy ingredients that make my life easier because they are also easy to take with me anywhere.  That is where IQ brand products come in !  IQ Bars, IQ Mix and IQ Joe- these are some amazing products ! Their bars are my favorite protein bars and their IQ Joe is the BEST instant coffee. The Mix is full of fantastic electrolytes and I love them to help revive my energy after a hike or when traveling and adjusting to new altitudes. The mix and coffee are super easy to make with warm or cool water wherever you are and I never need to add sugar to the coffee- it has natural sweetness from coconut sugar and tastes great on its own! ...
